It was a productive week across both courses as we continue preparing for a busy stretch of golf. Crews completed stump grinding on more than 20 remaining stumps, made two spray applications to the greens, and prepared several areas for new sod, which will be installed today.

All playing surfaces have been fully mowed and detailed in advance of a full weekend that includes the MGA and Senior Club Championship. We have also implemented a slight modification to our bunker-raking practices to help promote firmer, more consistent playing conditions.

We received approximately 2" of rain over the Easter weekend, much of which fell in a short period of time. While the moisture was certainly beneficial, the intensity of the rainfall resulted in washed bunkers and a significant amount of debris across both courses. Crews have been actively addressing these areas and continue to make steady progress on cleanup.

The combination of rainfall and mild temperatures has been ideal for allowing our bentgrass greens to recover quickly from aeration over the past two weeks. Overall playing conditions continue to improve each day as greens are now 90 percent healed.

In addition to cleanup efforts, the team made continued progress on aesthetic improvements to the cart barn, completed fertilizer and preventative weed control applications across nearly 200 acres, and performed tree work on several holes throughout the property.

Looking ahead to next week, we plan to grind more than a dozen remaining stumps, install sod in several areas, and continue advancing landscape improvements, beginning with enhancements around the Tennis Facility. We will also continue preparing for the Big 12 Championship which comes to the Gold Course on less than two weeks!

We received 0.8" of much-needed rain early this morning, providing a welcome boost to overall course conditions. Both courses remained cart path only today due to a combination of wet conditions and recent fertilizer applications to tees, fairways, and roughs. Notably, we did not have any water flowing into the property via Long Branch Creek—an unusual occurrence for April—but thanks to this rainfall, all ponds are now full and water is once again moving throughout the system.

It is also worth noting that we experienced the 2nd warmest February and the warmest March on record. The impact is noticeable throughout both courses -  especially through drone footage. Aeration of the Blue Course greens was completed smoothly on Monday, following the same process used on the Gold Course greens 10 days prior. While surfaces remain slightly sandy heading into the weekend, recovery is progressing quickly and conditions will continue to improve in the coming days.

Additional work this week included continued aeration and sand topdressing of approaches, perimeter shrub maintenance, landscape plantings, installation of new irrigation along the right side of #6 Gold, and continued progress on cart barn upgrades.

Course Update 3.26.26

NTPGA Pro Scratch on Monday and Tuesday

It was a busy start to the week as we hosted the NTPGA Pro-Scratch while simultaneously completing aeration of the Gold Course greens. The process went smoothly and putting quality should continue to improve through the weekend. Check out the video below showing the aeration process:

We also started aerating and sand topdressing approaches on the Gold Course. 

In addition to aeration and tournament prep, our crew focused on detail work around the property, including trimming perimeter shrubs, landscape bed maintenance, and tree removal. Crews also continued to make steady progress on improvements to the cart barn - the rock facade and roof replacement will take place in coming days.

Exceptional warm weather persisted for much of the week, but cooler temperatures are expected to arrive this weekend, which should provide some relief and ideal conditions for turf recovery.

Looking ahead, we will begin fertilizing all tees, fairways, and roughs on Monday, while also aerating Blue Course greens.

#8 Gold Green after "grooming" on Thursday

It was a chilly start to the week, with light frost visible on roughs Monday morning. We applied fertilizer and a preventative herbicide to green surrounds, along with completing critical spray applications to all greens. We also lightly vertical mowed greens using groomers throughout the week—a practice that helps minimize the effects of grain on ball roll and promotes a denser, more uniform turf canopy. Crews made significant progress on exterior improvements at the cart barn. Our staff removed several unsightly shrubs, while our contractor continued replacing the metal trim and is planning to begin rock work by late next week. Additional work included maintenance of the water feature on #17 Gold, trimming of pampas grass, and landscape plantings.

On Monday and Tuesday we will be hosting the NTPGA Pro/Scratch Tournament. DAC will be represented by five pro/member teams in the event and we look forward to seeing them defend home turf against some of the best golfers in North Texas. At the same time, we will complete our first greens aeration of the year on the Gold Course. This will be a relatively light aeration. While golfers can expect sandy conditions throughout the week, we anticipate rapid recovery by next weekend. Looking ahead, fertilizer applications to tees, fairways, and roughs are planned over the next one to two weeks, along with aeration of high-traffic areas.

Over the past seven days, we received right at 2" of rain. Fortunately, both courses handled the moisture well and conditions have dried enough to allow carts off paths heading into the weekend.

As many of you know, Mondays are typically the busiest day of the week for our maintenance team. With the courses closed this week, the crew made the most of the day by venting greens (light aeration), re-sodding several bunker faces, edging cart paths, repairing a main irrigation line leak on 18 Blue, and removing several outdated irrigation controllers.

Throughout the remainder of the week, we worked around periodic rain showers to complete routine mowing, bunker maintenance, and debris cleanup. Much-needed updates to the exterior of the cart barn are also now underway. Over the next two weeks, crews will be replacing the exterior metal and insulation and adding a rock façade facing the 18th hole. We do not anticipate any closures associated with this work; however, please be aware that workers will be active in the area and there will be some noise and activity. Please use caution around crews when using the driving range or playing the 18th hole. Finally, we completed repairs to the water feature located between 9 Blue and 10 Gold.

Next week, we will begin applying preventative herbicide and fertilizer to greens surrounds and continue preparing for upcoming landscape enhancements.

Course Update 3.5.26

We received just over 2" of rain yesterday evening, with most of it falling in less than three hours. The heavy rainfall rate washed most bunkers, spread debris along lake banks, and caused some minor tree damage. Fortunately, there was no major damage across the property, and our crew did a great job cleaning up the mess. 

This week we also planted a fifth truckload of sod, replacing grass around the tennis pro shop, parking lot, and several smaller areas throughout the property. Thankfully, the storms did not cause any significant damage to the newly planted grass. 

February was officially the warmest on record, which has continued to result in a much earlier "green up" on both courses than we are accustomed to. See photos comparing 2025 to 2026 on #10 Gold.  Next week we plan to lightly aerate and sand top-dress the greens, begin repairing a mainline irrigation leak on the right side of Blue #18 (not part of the new irrigation system), and continue reinstalling the ice and water machines on the courses.
